Warrigal Greens have a long history with coastal Aboriginal people and was one of the first Australian food plants used by the European settlers. These plants were taken to France in the 19th century and became a commercial crop known as French Spinach!
At Reedy Creek Nursery, Warrigal Greens Spinach is organically cultivated, in growing boxes of composted seaweed. The raised production beds of this fleshy, trailing plant are protected in the summer by shade houses, and during winter by hot houses. This sustainable year round production guarantees flavour and tenderness and consistency of supply.
Uses: The large, lush leaves can be used instead of Spinach and treated in much the same way. Great in Quiches, with pasta, stir fries and as a steamed vegetable.
